The bar for No Prep Drag Racing has been raised. Welcome to Maxim! The standard of recycling dirt car-based cars and adapting them to drag racing is over. The Maxim is 100% engineered from the ground up specifically for no prep drag racing. No adaptations, no conversion platforms, just pure engineering.
The first area we tackled with the Maxim was a flat chassis design to keep weight to a minimum while providing an open platform for electronics placement. The biggest complaint amongst flat chassis designs was the chassis felt like a “wet noodle” or the flex was not controlled.
The Maxim features an integrated flex control that allows the racer to fine tune chassis flex to the traction conditions. The flex control is achieved by first tying the entire chassis together starting at the transmission inserts. These inserts are connected to the chassis rail system that ultimately ties into the front end.
Racers can adjust flex through out the chassis by adding or eliminating hardware and links for an infinite range of adjustment.
The Drag Pak Transmission has been proven to be a strong design capable of handling low turn motor set ups. The Maxim Transmission maintains the same stand-up configuration that provides more rear weight bias compared to lay down transmission configurations. This stand-up configuration provides better traction while keeping the chassis balance more inline.
Reducing rotating weight was achieved with all 7075 T6 hard coated internal gears and slipper eliminator for an ultra-light weight drivetrain. The differential gear is a hybrid design that uses our own hardened internal gears. This coupled with our heat-treated CVD set up makes for an ultra-smooth drivetrain.
The injection molded rear a-arms were designed to eliminate flex while reducing weight. The a-arms feature 2 degrees of built-in toe in with universal mounting positions on both sides of the a-arms for shock and anti-roll bar set ups.
The rear shock tower is a low-profile design that is matched perfectly with Custom Works MDX Long Shocks. The combination of using smaller bore shocks compared to standard SCT shocks reduced 2oz of weight from the chassis while not sacrificing any performance.
Special attention was paid to the front-end design of the Maxim. Starting with our swept back injection molded front a-arms. This swept back design provides more forward weight bias in front of the center line of the front axle comparted to straight design “dirt” front a-arms. This ultimately requires less additional weight added to the front of the car.The front bulkhead features 1.5 degree removable castor mounts. The low-profile front shock tower is matched to the Custom Works MDX shocks allows for an aggressive body stance. The front castor blocks and bearing carriers are all CNC machined aluminum. The front axles are heat treated steel and use our V-Force Designs 12mm hex adapters for a wide range of adjustment.
